All this back and forth about progress on the new Blur album just got a little clarification. According to the band's producer, William Orbit (who worked on Blur's album 13), the Britpop titans stopped working on the album about three weeks ago.
"The new stuff sounded amazing," Orbit told NME [via Pitchfork]. "Then it all stopped suddenly. It was all over with Damon, and the rest of the band were like, 'Is this it?'"
In March Orbit responded to a tweet from a Blur fan who asked about the new album. He wrote, "Blur could have been good. But Damon, brilliant and talented tho he is, is kinda a shit to the rest of Blur."
Hmmm. I bet that's going to make things a little complicated between the band members this summer when they play a series of UK gigs, including a show at Hyde Park as part of London's Olympics celebrations.
